Are you suffering from driver conflicts or performance issues? The best way to fix these issues is by doing a clean installation of your GPU driver. In this guide, you will find out how to clean install your AMD/NVIDIA/Intel graphics drivers using DDU, a third-party uninstaller utility.

Why Should You Clean Install Your Graphics Drivers?

There might be moments when an update can occasionally cause many performance difficulties such as stuttering, crashes, and a black screen. If you face a familiar situation, doing a clean driver installation can help you recover from poor GPU driver updates. Furthermore, a fresh installation is recommended when replacing a graphics card, regardless of whether it is the same brand as your previous one. To avoid compatibility concerns, make sure to remove all traces of your old GPU.

Requirements For Clean Installing Your Graphics Drivers

Before proceeding to clean install your graphics drivers, make sure to download the latest drivers for your AMD, NVIDIA, or Intel GPU (If you own an AMD CPU or motherboard, don’t forget to download chipset drivers). You will also need to download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and WinZip.

Once you downloaded your drivers and DDU, extract the zipped folders using WinZip, then drag the extracted folder and driver downloads to your desktop. Next, disable your network adapters to perform the clean install properly.

  • Press Win + S to open Search.
  • Type network connections, then select View network connections from the search results.
  • Right-click the network adapter you’re currently using, then select Disable.
